Dances with Horses - Waterloo Iowa

We just returned from a 2,800 mile round trip to the National Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo, Iowa, where we were contracted to perform for "Dances with Horses," a charity event benefiting therapeutic riding and the organization A.S.P.I.R.E. (http://www.aspiretrp.org/). Lynn Palm and Monty Bruce also performed there in the McElroy Arena for the special event. We'll have performance pics soon, so in the mean time, here are a few pics taken on the road - including our rig at the world's largest truck stop (the Iowa 80), a shot of the arena (from outside), my dog, CiCi, snoozing in the back seat and a picture of our gps navigator showing I-74. A big thanks to "Greenhorn Wrangler Dude" for helping us with our props and horses!

Denny in Cowtown!

I just returned from the Will Rogers Coliseum in Ft Worth TX where I emcee'd several events associated with the Cowboys of Color Rodeo, Hall of Fame Induction and Cowboy Mounted Shooting match last weekend. The Lone Star Regulators CMSA Club (http://www.lonestarregulators.com/) produced the mounted shooting event and proved to be great hosts. We were also honored to meet and visit with Jim and Gloria Austin, founders of the Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame (http://www.cowboysofcolor.org/). Next week, I'll be in Murphreesboro TN announcing the CMSA Eastern US Championships at MTSU's Miller Coliseum. Sept 22 we're performing a specialty act at Dances with Horses in Waterloo, Iowa - an event that benefits ASPIRE - a therapeutic riding organization, also featuring Lynn Palm and Monty Bruce. Look for us in Cochranville PA the first weekend in October as we will be conducting a Cowboy Mounted Shooting clinic! The list goes on as we rack up the miles! Keep an eye on http://www.dennychapman.com/ for updates on our schedule of events. Happy Trails!

Denny's featured student - "Hellie"
I'd like to feature a few of my students in the next few blogs - this entry is dedicated to Helen or "Hellie" as she likes to be called by her friends. Hellie had been looking for that perfect horse for a long time. She sent us on a mission to find him, and we came back with "Smokey" - a beautiful grey Racking Horse gelding. After a bit of training and a few regular lessons, Smokey has become a great trail horse and a wonderful companion. He and Hellie are getting along beautifully and they've been learning new ways to have fun as you can see in the picture. Congratulations to Hellie and Smokie - you make us proud...Happy Trails!

Congratulations to a good friend...

Linda Brantley, a 28-year veteran of the Kentucky Horse Park, is retiring soon. Linda has been the voice of the KHP as she has been the official announcer for all the live shows on the grounds for many years, as well as the Entertainment Coordinator. Linda and I worked closely together during my time at the Park and we have many fond memories of all the wonderful horses there. Linda is a class act and a great announcer/personality, and was my announcing mentor as I was learning the ropes. She'll be spending her retirement announcing various horse fairs and special events around the country. Good luck to a good friend! http://www.dennychapman.com/
