Dances with Horses - Waterloo IA

We just received a few more pics of our appearance at the National Cattle Congress in Waterloo Iowa last September where we performed our "Surfin' Cowboy" specialty act for Dances with Horses - a benefit event for the ASPIRE therapeutic riding program. We've been touring with this act with great reviews and will have it out again in 2008 (with a few new suprises, of course!). ASPIRE has asked us to book their event again for next year, so look for us in Waterloo Oct 4 in 2008! I have Mane N Tail logos on my hat and shirt in the first three pics of the event rehearsal - they're great sponsors and we're proud to use and endorse their products. Check 'em out at www.manentail.com!

Denny Chapman - another Wild West Christmas Parade!

Here are a couple of pictures of Denny and Stephanie getting ready for the Williston FL Christmas Parade. Denny rode his Roman Riding Team, Spanky and Dusty and Stephanie rode the Friesian Stallion Igram B ("Imke") in the Hippodrome straps (standing up). Stephanie has turned out to be a very talented trick and roman rider and has already performed with us at several venues. This afternoon, we're off to perform our Surfin' Cowboy Specialty Act at the Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena for the Toys for Tots event...

Denny Roman Riding in the Ocala Christmas Parade

We had a great time Roman Riding the Ocala Christmas Parade last night. There were an estimated 60,000 spectators along the main route of Silver Springs Boulevard. It took 2 hours to stage the parade and about 1 1/2 hours from beginning to end of the route. We spent some time visiting with the Budweiser Clydesdale Hitch and the Marion County Mounted Patrol in the horse staging area before the Parade. We want to thank Straight Arrow Comany's Mane N Tail products for making our appearance possible. We also thank Easy Care, Inc. for their great product, Boa Boots they're like tennis shoes for horses and provide excellent traction on pavement. I've also used them on astro turf, in hotel lobbies and on stages, among other interesting places where we've been hired to appear with our horses.
Next week, we'll be providing announcing services and specialty acts for the Toys for Tots event at Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena!
Happy Trails,

Couple more pics...

Here are a couple more pics from the Florida State SASS Mounted Shooting Championships. The First pic is us on the extreme stage Sunday and the second is from the mounted rifle shooting on Saturday. The extreme stage requires you to shoot while jumping, among other things, while the rifle requires you to drop the reins and shoot while riding with your seat and legs only. What a blast...

Denny at the Florida State SASS Mounted Shooting Championships

It was an exciting weekend at the Florida State SASS Mounted Shooting Championships in Williston FL this weekend. The first picture is me with the top Cowboy and Cowgirl, Mike "Cowhunter" Nickerson and Sandy "Hobbit" Isenhour with their Straight Arrow awards that I brought as a Mane N Tail spokesperson. I won Reserve Overall for the two-day match and "Best Dressed" at the Saturday night banquet. As many of you know, I'm also a professional equine event announcer and mounted shooting competitor as well as a performer, so I love having the opportunity to compete in a match every now and then representing my sponsors. Look for us in the Ocala Christmas Parade Dec 1 and performing two weekends in a row in December at the Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena in Dade City!

Scenes from the past...

I just ran across a couple of pics that were taken a couple of years ago: The first one is me Roman Riding in the Halloween Parade of Breeds at the KY Horse Park in 2005. I was a "little kid" and my horses were my "roller skates" moving along in perfect sync...The second photo is me backstage at a Lexington Horsemen indoor football game with Eddie Montgomery. I had a great time working with the team and have fond memories of appearing at their opening game with more than 10,000 fans in the stands cheering while we ran out onto the field and reared in the spotlights... Denny Chapman in Las Vegas!

We just finished up the 2007 Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association's World Championships in Las Vegas. The event was held in South Point Hotel/Casino's Equestrian Events facility where we had nearly 300 of the best mounted shooters in the nation competing for thousands of dollars in prize money and trophy buckles, saddles and lots of sponsor products. I served on the competition announcing staff along with Sugar Ray Quinn for the 3-day event and emcee'd the specialty acts and entertainment programs. Pro Rodeo Hall-of-Famer Joe Beaver also c0-hosted the Hall of Fame Induction. We'll be announcing the "Big 4" events next year in Tunica, MS; Nampa, ID; Nashville, TN; and Amarillo, TX - as well as at some of the Regional and State Championships. We'll be flying home tomorrow to get ready to Roman Ride the Ocala Christmas Parade and prepare for some rodeo and corporate entertainment at the Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena. We'll also be taking in a couple of horses for Cowboy Mounted Shooting and Trick training this winter...Central Florida is great for horse training in the winter...Happy Trails

Cowboy Mounted Shooting in Florida!

We had a great time at the Florida Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association State Championship match this weekend. Spanky performed well, helping us finish in the top 20 overall and 2nd in the mounted rifle competition. We spend so much time teaching CMSA skills and horsemanship, trick training and performing on the road, that we seldom have the time to compete - it brought back a lot of good memories...and gave me lots of ideas and material for future clinics and specialty acts. Here's a neat picture of Spanky and I during a wild west specialty act we were featured in during a polo tournament in KY a few years ago. He's such a great shooting horse - on the run and laying down! As a matter of fact, I've never had such a versatile horse...Spanky served as my USTRC and AQHA Dally Team Roping horse, competed successfully with me in AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse, Working Cow Horse and Foundation Quarter Horse Competitions, has been my trick riding horse and is now travels the country with me as half of my Roman Riding team and Fire Jumper, and my main Cowboy Mounted Shooting horse!

Upcoming events...

We're gearing up for the CMSA Florida State Championships next Nov 3-4. Some of the best mounted shooters in the southeast will be competing during this 2-day event, which will be held at the Ocala Equestrian Center. Florida CMSA is my home club, and I sure enjoy participating in one of my favorite equestrian sports in my new hometown with some very talented cowboys and cowgirls. I'll be in the announcing booth at the CMSA World Championships in Las Vegas next month - check out www.cowboymountedshooting.com for more info. In December, we've been asked to Roman Ride the famous Ocala Christmas Parade (www.ocalachristmasparade.org)! An Ocala tradition for 58 recorded years, the annual Ocala/Marion County Christmas Parade is one of Florida’s last remaining evening parades. The Parade attracts over 60,000 spectators from Marion and surrounding counties who line up along more than two miles of Silver Springs Boulevard. Later in December, we'll be entertaining some corporate groups at the Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena (smokehousecreekrodeo.com) with our specialty acts and equine entertainment clinics. Busy, busy, busy...!

The "Annie Oakley Revue" with Stephanie Cons!

Wild West Entertainment's newest team member, Stephanie Cons, was the feature specialty act for Smokehouse Creek Rodeo's Rattlesnake Festival Ranch Rodeo last Saturday night. She performed her "Annie Oakley Revue" and was the highlight of the rodeo! I was hired to announce the rodeo and provide entertainment. Stephanie rose to the occasion with her professionalism and entertainment skills and made us very proud. Stephanie will be representing us at many more events in the near future.
