Couple more pics...

Here are a couple more pics from the Florida State SASS Mounted Shooting Championships. The First pic is us on the extreme stage Sunday and the second is from the mounted rifle shooting on Saturday. The extreme stage requires you to shoot while jumping, among other things, while the rifle requires you to drop the reins and shoot while riding with your seat and legs only. What a blast...

Denny at the Florida State SASS Mounted Shooting Championships

It was an exciting weekend at the Florida State SASS Mounted Shooting Championships in Williston FL this weekend. The first picture is me with the top Cowboy and Cowgirl, Mike "Cowhunter" Nickerson and Sandy "Hobbit" Isenhour with their Straight Arrow awards that I brought as a Mane N Tail spokesperson. I won Reserve Overall for the two-day match and "Best Dressed" at the Saturday night banquet. As many of you know, I'm also a professional equine event announcer and mounted shooting competitor as well as a performer, so I love having the opportunity to compete in a match every now and then representing my sponsors. Look for us in the Ocala Christmas Parade Dec 1 and performing two weekends in a row in December at the Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena in Dade City!

Scenes from the past...

I just ran across a couple of pics that were taken a couple of years ago: The first one is me Roman Riding in the Halloween Parade of Breeds at the KY Horse Park in 2005. I was a "little kid" and my horses were my "roller skates" moving along in perfect sync...The second photo is me backstage at a Lexington Horsemen indoor football game with Eddie Montgomery. I had a great time working with the team and have fond memories of appearing at their opening game with more than 10,000 fans in the stands cheering while we ran out onto the field and reared in the spotlights... Denny Chapman in Las Vegas!

We just finished up the 2007 Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association's World Championships in Las Vegas. The event was held in South Point Hotel/Casino's Equestrian Events facility where we had nearly 300 of the best mounted shooters in the nation competing for thousands of dollars in prize money and trophy buckles, saddles and lots of sponsor products. I served on the competition announcing staff along with Sugar Ray Quinn for the 3-day event and emcee'd the specialty acts and entertainment programs. Pro Rodeo Hall-of-Famer Joe Beaver also c0-hosted the Hall of Fame Induction. We'll be announcing the "Big 4" events next year in Tunica, MS; Nampa, ID; Nashville, TN; and Amarillo, TX - as well as at some of the Regional and State Championships. We'll be flying home tomorrow to get ready to Roman Ride the Ocala Christmas Parade and prepare for some rodeo and corporate entertainment at the Smokehouse Creek Rodeo Arena. We'll also be taking in a couple of horses for Cowboy Mounted Shooting and Trick training this winter...Central Florida is great for horse training in the winter...Happy Trails

Cowboy Mounted Shooting in Florida!

We had a great time at the Florida Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association State Championship match this weekend. Spanky performed well, helping us finish in the top 20 overall and 2nd in the mounted rifle competition. We spend so much time teaching CMSA skills and horsemanship, trick training and performing on the road, that we seldom have the time to compete - it brought back a lot of good memories...and gave me lots of ideas and material for future clinics and specialty acts. Here's a neat picture of Spanky and I during a wild west specialty act we were featured in during a polo tournament in KY a few years ago. He's such a great shooting horse - on the run and laying down! As a matter of fact, I've never had such a versatile horse...Spanky served as my USTRC and AQHA Dally Team Roping horse, competed successfully with me in AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse, Working Cow Horse and Foundation Quarter Horse Competitions, has been my trick riding horse and is now travels the country with me as half of my Roman Riding team and Fire Jumper, and my main Cowboy Mounted Shooting horse!
